Meunier, Tu Dors ?

Posted by zOOm (Paris, France) on 19 August 2009 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

The "Moulin de la Galette" was a real windmill situated near the top of the district of Montmartre in Paris. We know today that it was probably build around 1622. It was transformed as a cabaret in 1895.

Later, the area has been depicted by artists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent van Gogh, or Pablo Picasso.

The windmill has been classified as a monument since 1939.

The title refers to a very old french song.
