I say B&W. We hardly ever agree. She is usually right for photos I enter into the local camera club contests. I think they are both fantastic. Is this the Library at the end of town in Paris? 25 Apr 2009 5:59am @Bill Jennings: No Bill, this La Défense, a place full of towers, big companies and offices. Thanks to you both for this com. k@ from Paris, FranceMa nièce à côté de moi dit "La boule et l'immeuble avec ses reflets, j'adore !" Bravo. 25 Apr 2009 6:33am P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomPersonally I prefer the mono image from yesterday, it has more exciting tones and leaves more to the imagination, although this is still a good colourful composition in itself 25 Apr 2009 7:00am Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New ZealandIt would be too difficult to say which one I liked best as they both have things about them that are wonderful!!! I love the metalic feel of this shot!! 25 Apr 2009 7:06am Cat from PARIS, FranceCette version couleur donne à la scène (parisienne pourtant connue) un aspect futuriste incontestable que ne donnait pas le N&B. Les reflets sont juste magnifiques. 25 Apr 2009 7:10am "Marie" :-) from perth, AustraliaHi, I like the colour, no the b&w, no the colour............ who knows, they are both superb. This one is just a tad my favourite...... because I love the blue ball dome.... there decision made. Thank you for sharing both. The reflections are just awesome I do feel though that the vertical lines on the buildings need adjusting as my eye is just drawn to them. Many congratulations on a fine photograph.
25 Apr 2009 9:27am john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesYesterday, without having seen the color version, I was certain that the B&W would win out. Having seen how outstanding it is in color, I am no longer so certain. This is a fabulous photograph. As I think that i have said before, when they are done equally well, color seems to speak to my heart and B&W speaks to my soul. Often my preference depends upon my mood at the time. Also I find that with my own work, I respond differently to a print than I do to a digital image. Liners would love to see me going through this internal struggle. 25 Apr 2009 9:37am @john4jack: "...color seems to speak to my heart and B&W speaks to my soul." I truly share your opinion as well. That's why it's probably so difficult to choose. Same with paper prints and digital images. rendreing can be so different. I can spend hours like this... wandering in a room, and endlessly thinking... yes, but... ! Ahahha ! My internal struggle too ! :-) Thanks for your com, Jack, I now fell less isolated. mo.langel from Courtelary, SwitzerlandUne préference pour la photo N&B! Bravo ! 25 Apr 2009 10:50am Bogdan from Brasov, Romaniathe colors looks a little bit unreal. But except this the pic looks great 25 Apr 2009 10:59am Veronelle from Lens, Francej'aime les deux, la couleur est toutefois plus detaillée 25 Apr 2009 11:04am Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceIci, c'est totalement différent... plus jeu vidéo, avec ces couleurs un peu forcées... artistiquement parlant, je préfère la version N&B... sans hésiter... l'ambiance, l'atmosphère sont bien plus réussies en N&B. 25 Apr 2009 11:05am Lee from Fort Frances Ontario, CanadaThis is going to take a while. I'll have to sit and ponder this for sometime. I just keep flipping back and forth. I like the b&w version, except I think the sky is to dark. 25 Apr 2009 11:54am @Lee: No problem Lee ! :-) willow from Chelsea, United StatesI think I like the color better. Although it is a hard decision. The color version emphasizes the light and shadows more. J'aime les deux mais mon coeur balance tout de même du côté du N et B !!! 25 Apr 2009 1:02pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThis is beautiful with all these wonderful colours Florence, but personally I prefer the black and white image. I find the details to be more clear in montone, and the image not as busy. Interesting to see the scene in colour. 25 Apr 2009 1:09pm Mike Paulison from United StatesOh man! It's impossible to vote! The BW looked other worldly to me and almost like a rendering. This one is beautiful with the shapes and colors and reflections... oh, I don't know. I like them both very much, but I like them differently. I refuse to vote. 25 Apr 2009 1:28pm @Mike Paulison: Thanks Mike for your com anyway ! 25 Apr 2009 1:55pm john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesFlorence - ". . . feel less isolated." Initially what you said brought me up short. You receive 40-60 comments per day. People lavish you with respect and praise. How does one sometimes feel isolated with all of that? The answer is, "Easy." I think that it is the connection of the heart and the soul that we seek (and need). In my experience, those deep connections are rare. You certainly cannot manufacture them; and I believe that you can't even create them. They invariably come in those rare instances when they do as sheer "gift." You feel your heart and your soul touched as if by magic. A true heart/soul connection is in essence a mystery. Because it is so rare and is so fraught with mystery, if we are not paying attention, we can miss this precious gift altogether. And, what we do with this gift makes all the difference in the world. What has boggled my mind and exploded my preconceptions is that one can have such a rare and precious relationship with someone that you have never met, probably never will meet, and who lives on the other side of the world. If anyone had told me what would 25 Apr 2009 1:59pm @john4jack: Jack, you're a wonderful thief ! A thief of words ! :-) When you talk about 'gift", this was exactly what I was thinking about before reading your own words. I now know that even, as you mentionned, people never chance to meet, there are - sometimes - and yes it's scarce, 'close encounter'. I know we share something very intimate, something so difficult to express... it's just like a splendid evening in summer, a lake covered with mist, where lights glow beautifully until it die, and you're just there, in the middle of perfection, aware of it, and you feel so tiny and also beeing part of it, and you can hear everything, a breathe, a bug, a bird somewhere, the air, evry pule of life. And, and it did happen to me, you cry for this beauty, not because your sad, oh no, not at all, you cry because... well I think it's just a way to be happy to be here, amongst this beauty, this divine, and be alive. B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United StatesI like the color better. But, I always lean toward color shot. :-) observing from North West, United KingdomQuite a spectacular image Flo, the colours are really beautiful, personally - I prefer the B/W shot. It looks more futuristic, and the sky is more dramatic, but I must admit. I love Black & White photography. 25 Apr 2009 4:31pm @observing: Thanks a lot Mike ! LAE from Chesterton, United StatesI like both photo's, b/w is stunning with detail, the color is awesome, and I really like the blue so if I had to vote it would be for the color, but, its a hard to vote when both are Great ! 25 Apr 2009 5:00pm Véro from Franceun choix bien difficile car j'apprécie les 2 mais l'ambiance est différente et mon oeil ne se dirige pas au même endroit sur chacune . 25 Apr 2009 5:05pm @Véro: C'est mon penchant naturel pour Paris qui fait encore des siennes ! Giovanni from Milan, ItalyJe préfère le n&b. Ciao! 25 Apr 2009 6:55pm @Giovanni: C'est vrai que j'ai poussé un peu le HDR ! :-) john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesYou feel "frustrated"; my God, Florence, you are a bloomin' poet. You certainly know how to make the tears come. (I am printing and saving your words from today.) 25 Apr 2009 7:36pm @john4jack: Jack, I'm now definetely... speechless ! 25 Apr 2009 10:08pm JJ from Jersey City, United StatesAnd to follow on from my comment on the b&W version of this one, this on the other hand is vibrant and lively with a futuristic feel both brilliant BTW 26 Apr 2009 12:40am One from Açores, PortugalUne vue magnifique !! Une excellente performance même avec les couleurs et très bon traitement ! 26 Apr 2009 4:02am Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesI am a total sucker for color... though I prefer the yesterday`s version. This one has some playfulness and cuteness about it, when the yesterday one was more solid, even... since you are working with the "toy camera effect" then B&W brings it closer to it and makes you look more into the details as apposed to admiring the colors. But I enjoy both images neverless. 26 Apr 2009 5:04am @Nataly: No tilt sift effect here Nataly. Thanks for your coms ! :-) DarkElf from Perth, Australiafantastic array of colours! a very artistic impression here and the shot is nicely composed too! the geometrical lines and shapes really drive this scene beyond the colours - well done! 26 Apr 2009 2:30pm Nataly from Santa Monica, United StatesNo effect?? Then I love this even more and my vote goes for the B&W for the tones, details and the miniature impression! 26 Apr 2009 2:48pm dan from Paris, FranceMon nette préférence va au NB bien sûr ! L'essentiel, quoi ! 26 Apr 2009 2:59pm fabienne from FranceEntre les 2 mon coeur balance mais peut être une préférence pour le NB 27 Apr 2009 7:55am Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesStunning seems too lame of a word when describing this. The color is beautiful and I love the reflection of nearby buildings in the buildings' facades. 27 Apr 2009 4:24pm dj.tigersprout from New York City, USA, United Statesoh wow!!! just superb color rendition!! like a sci-fi world from the future!! bravo!! 27 Apr 2009 4:38pm Benoît from Montpellier, FranceMagnifique, j"aime bcp ce style de photos et le traitement de l'image est excellent 28 Apr 2009 11:13pm Isao from isère, Francej'aime, c'est presque surréaliste, je ne sais pas si ça vient de la lumière ou des reflets un peu partout... 1 May 2009 9:22pm Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesGreat color, great reflections, great composition! (I think it might be tilting just a bit to the left.) 15 May 2009 10:00am |
